Australian cuesports

I was looking for the discussion about Blackball in Australia but can't find it. Has it been removed, and if so why ?.

Another set of 8-ball rules?

I think we need this like I need a third thumb.

A third thumb would come in handy for some of those awkward bridging shots!

Blackball in Australia in a 'Non Issue'. We do not play it nor do we wish to.
We play;
* Two Shot 8-Ball (WEBF)
* USA Pool, 9-Ball, 10-Ball (WPA)
* Snooker.

End of story!

No this is not a WEPF exclusive site. We welcome all discussions related to all cuesports. The previous discussion relating to Blackball was not deleted due to content.

So do you speak for all pool players in Australia. You must be very important.

In my opinion the only way the game will progress is if we have one World governing body and one set of rules that are played World wide. Unfortunately the EPA made the split all those years ago and they probably hold the key to unification. The following scenario will never happen but just humour me for a moment. Supposing the EPA persuaded the WEPF to join the WPA and to play Blackball rules. Would Australia still refuse to entertain the idea of change.

Yeah I received an email saying that a user account was deleted because they consistantly broke the rules and unfortunately all forums that they have contributed to get deleted too.

That seems a very strange system and could itself be open to abuse. Good way to get forums that you don't like deleted.

No, Travis does not speak for all pool players. (no offense Travis :-) )
And stories are never really over - are they :-)

Who know what will happen in time. The NSWPBA is affilliated with the WPA, and as a member I would be willing to entertain that idea in theory. In reality, we are just about to run our first ever state 10-ball event - no plans for blackball this year, but who knows.

Blackball is definitely NOT a 'non issue'. Within 4 years of the introduction of Blackball in Africa, it has virtually replaced 90% of English 8ball. The reason for this is purely the fact that Blackball is the ONLY WPA recognised discipline on the 7 foot table. In Africa, it is very important to get government funding for athletes to travel abroad. Governments only fund sporting codes that are IOC recognised. This is why we in South Africa together with Nigeria, Lesotho, Malawi, Swaziland, Uganda, Namibia, Cameroon, Mauritius, Reunion Islands, Tanzania and Zambia moved over to Blackball.

Anyone that wants to get blackball going in NSW please get in touch with either myself, Fleur or Barry. We are always open to suggestions and anything that will increase participation in cuesports overall we will back 100%

I actually know a couple of venues that are willing to host events as well.

On a personal note I prefer it to 2-shot, but the 9ft varitaions are far superior =P
