I think for this Tournament to be taken seriously ( not just by the players but potential fans ) it needs to be held in a major city in Australia - obviously the politics surrounding this means the city will be Melbourne . . . .  so may I suggest Crown Casino.

All the top 16 players would probably come out as well and not have to pick bugs off the table while they are playing

The problem is that the prize money is not up there like the tournaments they play in the UK.

26 hour flight

And its in the middle of no where :)

I have been told by a very very good source that the event will be moved to either city melb or Sydney in the coming year 

So hopefully then there will be more prize money and it will be more appealing to the top 16 of the world. 

Other then that the main point is... We have a world ranking event in australia, this is great for australian snooker.

the only thing i would like to c in this tournament in the future is to have a couple of wildcards from australia cause i no for a fact that misfud and vinnie would have given at least half the blokes ive seen so far in this tournament a touch up.

i dont no if this is possible but it would be awesome for the fans in australia and even pool players like me who cant watch snooker for hours and hours

Beany, you must look at the draw......... Australia has 2 wild cards, James misfud and Johl Younger got beat

Vinnie was not here to play in the City of melb... which the winner gets the wild card and Johl won it.

Vinnie was in england at the time.

Shame the wildcard playoffs weren't televised

Can't believe there is live High def snooker on TV and i have no interest in watching it

spent the week there.had a long chat with paul collier(marker)he said the main reason why the top players dont come is because this event falls in the middle of one of their only breaks(time off)for the year.jetlag and bad preparation due to china open only been played days before,doesnt help either.as for it being held in bendigo its really up to the vic government,besides he said they couldnt really afford to hire out somewhere in the cbd.as for the snooker in general,most players say its their favourite venue to play at and they wish there were more like it back home.they wouldnt stop raving about the great tables all week either.besides,holding the tournament in a major city has nil effect on tv ratings which is where the bucks come in.

standard of play was excellent,most of the better games were on the non televised table:(

Was there on Thursday - last 16. Ebdon is a monster, killing the game :-(( Neil had to start his game 2 and 1/2 hours late because of Ebdon. EVERYONE in audience was absolutely pissed off! I'm not particularly interested in super-fast play (Drago, O'Sullivan etc.), but what players playing Ebdon have to put up with, is horrible. I believe he won lots 'n lots of matches UNFAIRLY! Are the refs too scared to warn him?! WPBSA has to do something about deliberate slow play !!!
