"I tend to play the rail balls with drag or running side, the running side has the effect of making the object ball "hug" the rail due to the small transfer of side. But i would advise plain ball before using side just to see the angle…"

Text books usually suggest aiming the CB to contact the cushion rail and OB simulatenously but that's where the CB and OB are the same size unlike the smaller CB we use. I guess the adjustment might be to aim to just contact the OB before the cushion but I don't know what impact contact induced throw might have.When I'm practising these shots the problem I have is knowing whether I aimed too thick or thin when I miss to know what adjustment I need to make.
